In the novel A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, some characters want revenge but don't get it and others get their revenge. In this story Gaspard gets his vengeance. Dr.Manette and Madame Defarge were two out of many that couldn't get their revenge.

In the novel A Tale of Two Cities, Gaspard gets revenge against the Marquis. For example the Marquis ran over and killed Gaspards' child. Monsieur the Marquis could care less about what he had done to the poor little child. Gaspard needed to get revenge to the hurt he was caused by the Marquis. In addition he goes to the Marquis' house and stabs him in the heart and kills him. He was full of anger from the Marquis because of his unkindness. He was sick of being treated unfairly by upperclasses. Gaspard definitely gets his revenge for the death of his child.

One of the characters in the book that didn't get their revenge was Dr. Manette. He was in prison for eighteen years. He shouldn't have had to be there. It was unjust and unfair cruelty for him to be sent to prison. The reason that he went to prison was because he witnessed the Everemonde family harming and almost killing a peasant girl, her brother, and the father of the two. He did all he could to help out the suffering people. It was the Everemondes' fault, not Dr. Manette's. He should have tried to get revenge against them, but he didn't.

Another person that didn't get revenge was Madame Defarge. She tried to get revenge by accusing Dr. Manette and Charles Darnay in trial. It was unfair for her to blame Dr. Manette because he practically saved her life. Charles Darnay shouldn't have been put at fault for his family members' actions. Madame Defarge tried to kill Charles's wife Lucy to double her revenge, but she was killed by Miss Pross before she could harm anyone. Madame Defarge was filled with much anger. She shouldn't have taken it out on the criminals cousin and cousin in-law. Madame Defarge had many tries at getting revenge and she...
